I am a Midwesterner, a country girl at heart. I was born in Defiance, but grew up in Sherwood, Ohio (pop. 800). Literally, there were bean and cornfields everywhere and not a single traffic light.
I grew up in a loving and supportive family where education was highly valued and strongly encouraged. I was the first on my Dad's side to graduate from college. After college, I taught in Ohio for five years and then moved to the California desert where I taught for another five years. I then moved back to Ohio to obtain my Master of Arts degree. After graduation, I returned to California where I taught until 2013. I taught in Las Vegas, NV and Hemet, CA before accepting my position here at Rancho Mirage High School in August 2019.

My Education & Teaching Background
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Spanish Education from Bowling Green State University. I obtained my Master of Arts degree in TESOL/Bilingual Education from the University of Findlay. I started my post-graduate work in school counseling at the University of California Riverside. I also am pursuing GATE certification and Bilingual Authorization.
This is my 31st year of teaching. Although the majority has been teaching high school, I previously was a Professor/Instructor at the following community colleges: Northwest Technical College, College of the Desert, and Copper Mountain College. I also was a bilingual elementary teacher for 2nd & 3rd grade and a SAP counselor for elementary students on a US Marine base. Before joining RMHS, I taught at another Rancho (Viejo MS). Currently, I hold California and Nevada teaching licenses in Spanish and ESL.
My Interests/Hobbies
I love traveling, photography, genealogy, boating, hiking, and spending time with my family (especially my furry sons Moses & Asher) and my friends.
